ASRock MCP78
Anyway, I got another ASR MB a few days back to compare with my ASR 780G and GBT 780G. This ones a MCP78.. problem being, I picked wrong one up at office and got the one without onboard GFX connector, damn
Anyway, it is the lowest of the lowest budget MBs and it hits 2.8G 1.208v stable very easily with 9850 without PWM cooling. Abit AX78 and GBT 780G couldn't do that. I've been checking out CPU power... and yep, it really does pick up CPU power from voltage/current sense circuitry within VRMs, however since it is real-time, it shows fast fluctuations too.
Phenom 9850 does indeed seem to be a 98-105W consuming part (depending on how hot you have it).
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 430W.
Off = 16W AC
Standby = 26W AC
C1E = 83W AC
(most of CPU off basically)
2x HDDs = +18W AC
Initial MB Power Differences [exact same setup]
ASR MCP78 with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT CnQ idles 96W AC.
MSI 790FX with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT CnQ idles 118W AC.
ASR MCP78 with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT idles 108-110W AC.
MSI 790FX with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT idles 134-138W AC.
ASR MCP78 with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT loads 199-201W AC. (CoreDamage 5 mins)
MSI 790FX with old 9850 2.8G setup and HD 2600 XT loads 250-252W AC. (CoreDamage 5 mins)
Guess what? Even the load voltage on ASR is higher (can't control it), it is 1.23v region in low volt mode while on MSI it is 1.208v.
Pics of CPU voltage*current=watts reading through PSI using ASR tool =>
No CnQ+stock volts+hot CPU idle
No CnQ+stock volts idle
No CnQ+low volts idle
CnQ+PSI idle (overvolting)
Stock volts+hot CPU load (actually +0.036v overvoltage)
Low volts load (again overvolts +0.024v under load)
Wait till I put my 87% eff. @ 70W Seasonic 330W on it

ASR Tool can enable/disable TLB patch on B3 too.
